Court Delivers Harsh Sentence in Malda District
A court in Malda district, West Bengal, has sentenced a man to death for the brutal murders of his parents, sister, and grandmother. The verdict was announced on Saturday.
The horrific crime occurred on February 28, 2021, in the 16 Mile area of the Kaliachak police station jurisdiction, stemming from a property dispute. District Sessions Judge Subhayu Banerjee found Mohammad Asif guilty under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and imposed the death penalty.
Asif had incapacitated his father, Javed Ali (53), mother, Ira Bibi (36), sister, Reema Khatun (16), and grandmother, Noor Beowa (72), before strangling each of them to death.
